How do you measure an arch fireplace opening?
You need three numbers: width at the springline (where the curve starts), width at the base, and peak height (top of arch to bottom of opening). The configurator lets you specify each. We confirm measurements with a free template kit before production — request one from the contact page.
What is "United Inches" on an arch door?
United Inches = Width + Peak Height. It's the pricing unit for arched and irregular doors because area calculations are more complex than rectangular openings. A 40W × 32H arch = 72 United Inches. The configurator calculates this automatically as you size.
Do arch doors come in standard sizes?
No — every arch door is custom-built. We offer 6 arch frame styles across Stoll and DS. Allow 4-5 weeks production. The configurator includes our Free Template Kit option so you can verify the curve matches before we cut steel.
Can I get an arched door for a prefab fireplace?
Most prefab manufacturers don't offer arched openings, so this is rare. If you have a custom-cut prefab face with an arch, send measurements and a photo — we'll confirm whether we can build a frame that anchors safely to the factory mounting points.
Does the glass on arch doors come pre-curved?
Yes — tempered ceramic glass for arch doors is cut and curved at the glass shop before shipping. The curve matches your specified peak height exactly. Replacement glass is available — each arch glass panel is unique to the opening so allow 2-3 weeks for fabrication.
How much do arch doors cost?
Arch doors run $2,200-$4,500 depending on frame style, finish, and United Inches. Premium iron and plated finishes can reach $5,200. The configurator shows live pricing as you build. Quote includes the door, glass, mesh, and standard hardware pack.
Can you send a template so I can trace my arch?
Yes — we ship a Free Template Kit on request. It's a roll of large-format paper plus a marker and instructions. Tape the paper across the opening, trace the inside curve and both sides, mail the template back, and we cut steel to match the exact shape — including any out-of-square or asymmetric arches. Most homeowners use the template kit for arches over 36 inches wide where small drift on the curve would be visible. Request one through the configurator's "Free Template Kit" option or from the contact page; ships in 2–3 business days.
