OverviewProduct details and key features
The American Fyre Designs Contractor's Model with Moulding is the ultimate blank canvas for a fully custom outdoor fireplace. Cast from high-strength glass-fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) and finished in raw white concrete, its body and hearth are recessed so your contractor can clad the fireplace in your choice of stone, tile, stucco, or veneer to match your patio perfectly.
Standing a commanding 91 inches tall with a classic moulded surround, this vented free-standing fireplace ships in a white GFRC finish ready for field finishing. The key/gas valve is located on the back right of the unit, and it accepts an approved, separately selected natural-gas or propane burner package. Frequently Asked
Does this fireplace need a chimney?
Use the venting arrangement specified for this outdoor fireplace. Some outdoor designs are open to the air; others need a chimney or vent. Its installation manual also defines the permitted enclosure and clearances.
Can I use this outdoor fireplace indoors, like in a garage or a screened porch?
An outdoor-only fireplace must stay in an approved outdoor location. A roofed or screened space is suitable only if it meets the enclosure and ventilation requirements in this model’s manual; a garage or indoor room is not an equivalent installation.
Can I install this myself?
Have a qualified fireplace installer handle the gas connection and follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions. They can also plan the venting, framing, electrical work and permits for your project.
How do I know it will fit the space I have?
For a new built-in fireplace, compare the model’s framing width, height and depth with the space available. Allow for its enclosure, vent route and finishing materials as shown in the installation manual. A photo and your plans can help our team discuss the options with you.
What else do I need to buy to make this work?
A gas supply line run to the location by a licensed gas fitter, and the correct fuel type — natural gas and propane are not interchangeable without the matching conversion kit. Most outdoor fireplaces ship without a log set or media, so confirm what is included. Any log set you add must itself be listed for outdoor use.
Frequently asked questions
Will fireplace doors save energy?
Yes. When closed during periods the fireplace is not in use, glass doors seal the firebox opening — preventing warm indoor air from escaping up the chimney and blocking cold drafts from entering. This is one of the most common reasons buyers add doors to a masonry fireplace, where an open damper can lose hundreds of cubic feet of conditioned air per minute.
Can I close the doors while a fire is burning?
It depends on the door type. Most masonry-fireplace doors with tempered or ceramic glass are designed to be operated open while a wood fire burns at full intensity, then closed once the fire has burned down to embers. Always check the manufacturer's instructions for your specific model. Doors with mesh curtains can stay closed during active fires — the mesh blocks sparks while letting heat radiate through.
How do I measure for fireplace doors?
Measure the firebox opening at three points each direction (top, middle, bottom for width; left, center, right for height) and use the smallest measurement. For overlap-fit doors, add room for the frame overlap (typically +2" width / +1" height). For inside-fit, subtract clearance (-1" width / -½" height). Every custom order ships through our free Expert Fit Review — we verify your measurements before production.
What's the warranty on EF fireplace doors?
All doors carry a 5-year warranty against frame defects. The powder-coat finish is warranted against chipping and fading for 5 years. Glass and mesh are warranted against defects for 1 year. Damage in transit is fully covered — file a claim within 48 hours of delivery.
Do you offer free shipping and returns?
Free freight shipping on all orders within the contiguous US. Custom-made doors are non-returnable because every order is verified through Expert Fit Review before production — no measurement risk on your end. Quick-Ship inventory items have a 30-day return window on unused, uninstalled units.
