Dimplex Ignite Quest 36" Smart Built-In Electric Firebox - Model QST36
Overview
The Dimplex Ignite Quest 36" (QST36) sits between two worlds on purpose: the proportions of a traditional firebox, the flame of a modern linear fireplace. It is a built-in electric unit — no chimney, no gas line, no venting — measuring 36-5/8 x 36-5/8 x 17-1/2 in, with a viewing area of 36-5/8 x 27-1/8 x 8-3/4 in.
The flame
- Multi-Fire flame effect with 9 color themes and adjustable brightness.
- 10 quick-connect moveable logs sitting over a tumbled glass ember bed, with 3 ember themes.
- A built-in crackling sound effect on the remote, with more options in the Flame Connect app.
- Flame-only mode, so it earns its place in the room through summer as well.
The heat
- Comfort$aver heating system, fan-forced, rated for rooms up to 1,000 sq. ft.
- 1500 W / 5118 BTU on a 120 V supply (12.5 A), or 2500 W / 8530 BTU on 240 V (10.4 A).
- Hardwired. Dimplex packs a 120 V plug kit in the carton if you would rather plug it in; a 240 V installation is hardwire only.
- Heat-only mode, and the heater can be permanently disabled if you only want the flame.
How it frames in
The rough opening is 36-3/4 W x 37-1/8 H x 18 D in. Front-facing, left-corner, right-corner and bay installations are all supported — corner and bay layouts need the Trim Installation Kit (Dimplex order no. 500005394, sold separately).
One thing your framer needs to know: this firebox is not load-bearing. The header above the opening has to carry the building load, not the top of the unit.
Control
Dimplex Flame Connect app over Wi-Fi, the included wall-mountable remote, or the 3-button touch panel on the unit. There is an 8-hour timer and self-diagnostic technology that reports faults instead of leaving you guessing.
