Smokehouse Non-Combustible Concrete Mantel Shelf Pale Honey Finish
Overview
Hidden behind the main house, beyond the garden gate and along the worn path of generations, the Kentucky smokehouse was never built to impress—it was built to last. Our Smokehouse Non-Combustible Mantel is inspired by timbers that could have been reclaimed from an old Kentucky barn, capturing the quiet strength and timeless character of rural craftsmanship.
Molded directly from an authentic 10" x 5" barn timber, the Smokehouse mantel faithfully recreates the natural aging and texture that only time can create. From honest irregularities and hand-hewn facets to deep checks, splits, and weathered grain, every detail reflects the beauty of a hardworking piece of history. This mantel is our tribute to everyday Kentucky heritage—modest, durable, and deeply beautiful.

Take three measurements before ordering: width, height, and depth of your fireplace opening (or the surface where this product will be installed).
Always measure to the nearest 1/8 inch. Take each dimension twice and use the smaller number — fireplaces aren't always square.

Frequently asked questions
How far does a mantel need to be from the firebox?
The 2021 International Residential Code (IRC R1001.11) requires combustible materials (wood mantels, trim) to be at least 6" from the firebox opening. Add 1" of clearance for every ⅛" the material protrudes from the wall. Non-combustible mantels (concrete, steel, properly-rated mineral cores) can be installed closer or even at zero clearance — check the firebox manufacturer's listing and your local code.
What's the difference between combustible and non-combustible mantels?
Combustible mantels are made of wood or wood-composite materials and must follow strict clearance codes (typically 6"+ from firebox). Non-combustible mantels are concrete, steel, glass, or composite materials with mineral cores — they don't burn or off-gas under heat, so codes allow much tighter installation, often right next to the firebox. For zero-clearance / direct-vent gas fireplaces, non-combustible is usually the only code-compliant option.
How do I install a floating mantel?
Most floating mantels mount via a hidden steel cleat or rod system attached to wall studs (or masonry anchors for stone/brick walls). The mantel slides over the bracket and locks. Installation typically takes 30–60 minutes with basic tools (level, drill, stud finder). Concrete and steel mantels are heavier — verify your wall can support the load (typically 50–120 lb depending on length).
Will the mantel arrive ready to install?
Yes. EF mantels ship fully finished with the mounting hardware included. Standard sizes ship in 5–10 business days; custom sizes are made-to-order in 2–4 weeks. White-glove freight delivery is included on every order.
What's the warranty and return policy?
EF mantels carry a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Quick-Ship / standard-size mantels have a 30-day return window on unused units. Custom-size mantels are non-returnable. Damage in transit is fully covered — file a claim within 48 hours.
