Product details

Overview

The Charred Oak Vented Gas Log Set captures oak that looks freshly burned, with rich, rustic char detail layered over crisp bark for a fire that appears well underway from the first flame. It is a versatile, broadly flattering set that suits both traditional and transitional fireplaces. Available across an unusually wide size range, it fits everything from compact to generous fireboxes.

Why we carry it

We carry Real Fyre because Peterson has hand-painted ceramic refractory logs in the USA since 1949 and leads the industry in realism. Each Charred Oak log is individually cast from a real wood sample, hand-finished, and reinforced with internal steel rods to prevent cracking and hold detail under high heat.

Specifications

  • Material: hand-painted ceramic refractory with internal steel reinforcement
  • Fuel: Natural Gas or Propane
  • Vented: requires a working chimney/flue with an operable damper
  • Ignition options: Match-Light, Manual Safety Pilot, or Electronic with variable-flame remote (where available)
  • Available sizes: 16, 18, 19, 24 and 30 in
  • Made in the USA by Peterson Real Fyre
  • Warranty: 10 years on indoor burners (controls excluded); see the manufacturer’s terms for logs and controls.

How to size & measure your fireplace

Measure the front width, rear width, depth, and height of your firebox before selecting a size. Compare all four measurements with the minimum fireplace dimensions for the selected burner and controls. With three burner styles and four ignition systems offered, this vented set adapts to most fireplaces, provided you have a functioning chimney and damper.

What's in the box

  • Hand-painted Charred Oak ceramic logs
  • Burner and custom grate
  • Glowing embers (vermiculite/silica sand)
  • Damper clamp
  • Connector kit and burner clips
  • Installation instructions

FAQ

Why is the size range so wide? Charred Oak is offered from 16 to 30 inches, including a 19 inch option, so it fits tight fireboxes other sets cannot.

Vented or ventless? Vented, for the most realistic flame, requiring an open chimney.

Natural gas or propane? Both; configure your fuel when ordering.

Which burner and ignition? You can choose among three burner styles and four ignition systems, from Match-Light to full electronic remote.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked

Will gas logs work in my fireplace?

Start with your fireplace’s approval and the burner’s installation manual. Vented sets need a suitable wood-burning fireplace and working chimney; vent-free sets need an approved firebox and must be permitted locally. Send us your fireplace model or a photo if you are unsure.

What size gas log set should I choose?

Measure the firebox’s front width, rear width, depth and opening height. Compare all four measurements with the requirements for your chosen burner and control. A 24-inch set does not mean it fits a 24-inch opening. Add a photo with measurements and our team can help check your selection.

Should I choose natural gas or propane?

Choose the fuel supplied to your fireplace. Natural-gas and propane components are not interchangeable. If you are unsure, have your installer confirm the supply before ordering; any conversion must be specifically approved by the manufacturer.

Which ignition option is right for me?

Match-lit is a manual option for compatible natural-gas sets. A safety-pilot system adds flame supervision; compatible remote systems offer easier control. Available controls depend on the burner and fuel. Choose from the options shown for this set, or ask our team to help compare them.

What is included with my order?

Check Product details and your selected options for the included logs, burner and controls. Contents vary by set and configuration. If you are replacing only part of an existing system, send us its model number so we can check compatibility before you order.

Do I need a professional installer?

Yes. Use a qualified fireplace or gas professional to check the fireplace, venting, gas supply and clearances, then install and test the set using its manufacturer’s instructions. Installation requirements depend on the exact product and local rules.

Can I burn gas logs with the glass doors closed?

For an open-front gas-log installation, keep the glass doors fully open while the burner operates. Follow the instructions for your specific fireplace and burner, including required airflow around the door frame. A sealed direct-vent fireplace is a different appliance.

How much maintenance do gas logs need?

Have a qualified professional inspect the burner, controls and fireplace at least once a year, or more often if the manufacturer requires it. Follow the set’s cleaning and log-placement instructions; do not rearrange the logs or add unapproved material to the burner.
