The D41 family — D41CF, D41CFI, D41HC and D41HCI — was one of the largest wood-burning fireboxes Marco built. If your home has a 41-inch Marco prefab fireplace, there is a good chance you are looking at a D41 or one of its close cousins from the B41 and C41 lines. All of them share the same problem today: Marco has been out of business for years, no factory replacement doors exist, and the original bi-fold glass doors on these units are usually the first thing to fail — glass panels crack, tracks bend, mesh screens fray, and the thin factory frames discolor after a couple of decades of fires. First, confirm your model
Look for the metal rating plate on your fireplace. On most Marco units it sits just inside the firebox opening — typically on a side wall, behind the mesh screen, or on the smoke shield above the opening. The plate carries the model designation (for example D41HC) and often a seven-digit catalog number in the 7927xx range. If the plate is missing or unreadable, take a straight-on photo of your fireplace and send it to our AI Fireplace Expert — it can usually narrow down the family from the frame profile, louvers and screen style. This step matters because the D41 is easy to confuse with the Marco B41HC and C41, which look similar from the couch but are separate model lines.
Why you can't just buy "a 41-inch door"
- Original doors are no longer made. Marco shut down long ago, so there is no OEM channel — every replacement door for a D41 today is aftermarket, and quality varies enormously.
- Universal and masonry doors don't fit. A masonry-style overlap door is designed to bolt into brick. A D41 is a zero-clearance steel box; an overlap frame will sit crooked on the face, leak air around the perimeter, and can trap heat where the manufacturer never intended it.
