Overview
The Split Oak Designer Plus ANSI Vented Gas Log Set blends individually cast, hand-painted split logs modeled from real oak samples, creating a layered, freshly-split look with exposed heartwood and rugged bark. What sets it apart is the ANSI-certified G45 hearth kit, which arrives fully assembled with control valve and regulator for a safety-tested, ready-to-install fire. The result is a designer-grade flame with genuine peace of mind.
Why we carry it
We stock Real Fyre because Peterson has hand-painted ceramic refractory logs in the USA since 1949 and remains the most realistic name in the category. Every Designer Plus log is cast from a real wood sample, hand-finished, and steel-reinforced to survive decades of heat without warping or fading.

How to size & measure your fireplace
Record your firebox front width, rear width, depth, and height before ordering. Aim for a log set about 6 inches narrower than the front opening so the flames and logs sit comfortably inside. Because this is a vented set, your fireplace needs a functioning chimney and an operable damper.

FAQ
What does ANSI-certified mean here? The burner system ships pre-assembled and safety-tested with its control valve and regulator, so installation is faster and simpler.
Vented vs ventless? This is vented, giving you a tall, realistic flame with the trade-off of needing an open chimney.
Which gas type? Both Natural Gas and Propane are available; select your fuel at checkout.
Can the gas line enter from the left? The kit connects on the right by default but accepts a left-hand inlet with a flex line.

Frequently asked questions
Vented vs. ventless gas logs — which is right for me?
Vented gas logs require a working chimney/flue (open damper during use). They produce a more realistic, taller flame and expel combustion byproducts outdoors. Ventless (vent-free) gas logs burn cleaner so they don't require a flue — but they release combustion moisture and trace byproducts into the room. Vented = more realistic look + fully outdoor exhaust. Ventless = higher heat efficiency + flexible install but check local codes (some jurisdictions restrict ventless).
Are ventless gas logs safe?
Ventless gas logs sold in the US must include an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) by design — the unit shuts off automatically if room oxygen drops below safe levels. Most also include built-in carbon monoxide protections. To use safely: install a CO detector in the room, follow the BTU sizing limits for your room volume, crack a window if running for extended periods, and don't run continuously for more than the manufacturer's stated maximum (typically 4 hours). Some states and municipalities do not permit ventless installation — check your local code.
Can I use gas logs in my wood-burning fireplace?
Yes — vented gas logs are designed to drop into a working masonry or pre-fab wood-burning fireplace. The chimney/flue must be inspected and verified working (open damper during use). You'll also need a gas line run to the firebox if one isn't already there. Always have a licensed gas plumber install the line and have a hearth professional install and test the burner.
How do I light gas logs?
Most modern gas log sets use a millivolt valve with a wall switch or remote, or a match-light system where you ignite a pilot manually with a match. Check your specific set's manual. For first lighting after install, follow the manufacturer's burn-in procedure (typically 4–6 hours total of staged burns) to cure the logs and burner coatings before regular use.
Free shipping and warranty?
Free freight shipping on all orders, contiguous US. Most gas log sets carry a 5-year warranty on the burner and a limited lifetime warranty on the ceramic logs against defects (warranty terms vary by manufacturer — full details on each product page). 30-day return window on unused, uninstalled gas log sets.
